A migrant carries within them two worlds and they live within the friction and unease of many contradictions. They try to reconcile them.
They look for lumber.
When they find their lumber, they build a bridge.
I build mine by telling stories through the creative arts.

Vicky received a BA from Victoria University, and trained as an assistant film-editor on commercials in London. On return to Aotearoa/New Zealand she free-lanced as an assistant film editor on commercials, documentaries and feature films.

Her interest in screen acting began the ‘80’s when she was working in post-production on feature films, editing performances in which actors delivered self-conscious unconnected performances, rather than relating to each other.

Seeking authentic screen performance took her on a decade long quest to LA where she trained as an actor and director at the Jeremiah Comey Acting Studios.

On her return to Aoteroa/New Zealand she trained actors throughout the country and established two acting studios in Auckland.  She has taught at the major drama institutes including the Wellington National Drama School/Toi Whakaari, Auckland School for Screen and Performing Arts Unitec, Auckland University, PASA in Auckland, TAP in Auckland, as well as at Relativity Film School in Los Angeles.

As a filmmaker, Vicky utilises both traditional and non-traditional systems for the development and production of films. She favours deep collaborative processes - which she has developed extensively in the training sector - in which creative teams are guided to discover story and script narrative by an Inside Out approach using actor/character-based methodologies.

Since first going to Greece as a young girl, Vicky’s Greek roots have underpinned much of her personal creative practice. She shares her year between Aotearoa/New Zealand and Greece. (see Greece)
